It’s one of the most anticipated national finals of the Eurovision season, and fans of Sweden’s Melodifestivalen can now get even more excited with the news that’s come through only hours ago. We now know the 28 artists who will be competing in the four semi-finals to take place next year, with one of those acts to go on to represent Sweden at Eurovision in 2018.
Contest Producer Christer Björkman is excited about next year’s contest, stating that it will be ‘Fresh, modern, fun and entertaining.’ This year we’ll also be seeing a lot of new acts, which demonstrates Melodifestivalen as a platform for presenting fresh new talent. Incredibly, 52 of the 90 authors and 18 of the 18 acts have not participated in the contest before, with 12 acts also in Swedish. This will make it an interesting contest, as we don’t quite know what to expect from the newcomers!
